Alexa and App pairingI noticed that there are many comments about the inability to get this device to work with wi-fi or Alexa or even getting the LITEdge app to open after downloading it. After ordering and receiving this device I too had difficulty downloading the app so that I could turn the device on and off either by my cell phone or Alexa. I searched through all the questions and answer section for comments about this problem and only noticed one person who said they were able to download the app and get it to work with the help of Amazon customer support but they did not state how they did it. There was even a comment about the link included on a piece of instruction papers with the lights that it was the wrong link. I m here to say that it is the right link and hopefully this will help a lot of you out there who have had problems with getting it connected with Alexa or getting the App to download on your cell phone. I own a google pixel 3 and my wife owns a Galaxy J7. Neither one of us could get the app to open after downloading on our phones. It would briefly try to open then state that LITEdge keeps stopping and would never open properly. So we just removed it from our phones. I was however able to get it to download and open on my IPad Air. Even this was a little tricky. Once I downloaded and opened the app on my iPad and had the app locate devices from the litedge I had to go to settings, then wi-if and tap on the whitelight device even thought it has nothing to do with connecting to the internet. Trying to pair the light strip with my iPad I had to use an internet connection speed that was 2.5g. Apparently any speed faster than this cannot be recognized, although I think I used the faster blinking rate when I paired it with my Alexa. I have two internet speeds on my router and once I switched to a slower connection speed pairing was successful. There are 2 pairing modes on the push button switch of the light. There is a fast blue light blinking mode (2 times a second) and a slower blinking mode (1 time every 3 seconds,. Although I thought that it was faster than that but I didn t time it). When you open the app, at the top right of the screen is a plus sign. This allows you to add devices. Touch it to open a list of devices. The name for the device that I used was power strip . Once that is chosen at top right of the page is AP mode . Tap on this for pairing in a slower mode. There is a link for instructions on how to set the slower blinking pairing mode. There is also an option to share the app with other users but when I tried to share it with my wife (either by cell number or email address neither one worked).To connect it with Alexa my wife opened the app on her phone and had Alexa look for devices by saying connect . Alexa discovered the device listed as whitelight and was able to pair it. Again this had to be done at a slower speed. I did buy two sets of these lights. When I put both in pairing mode and tried to pair them as one device within the app, neither device could be found. So I had to pair them separately and give each one a different name.4Excellent kit for a Gun safe!I purchased this for my Field & Stream Gun Safe that is in my bedroom. I removed the middle board inside the safe to get as clean as an install as I could. For anyone struggling with installation, I would recommend laying it out first on your floor and connect it to power. I wish I would have purchased the 6 piece kit over the four because I don't have full coverage inside the side (see the photos). Having said that I am very happy with the lights. The double sided tape (on the LED strips) sticks to the carpet liner in my safe and I have not had one come off yet. I am still experimenting with the sensor location within the safe, but it turns on relatively quickly and stays on for about 4 minutes afterwards. Outside of cleanliness of install, I would recommend moving the sensor around to suit your needs. The double sided tape on the sensor is different than what is on the LED light bars themselves. I had to remove it and use my own 3M double sided tape after trying multiple location inside the safe. The nice part is I can purchase another kit and just connect them to the kit I already have in the safe. The kit does come with everything you need to light up your gun safe or whatever you desire. I would recommend this kit (purchase the 6 piece kit) to anyone.5Placed inside a cabinet to turn on when doors openI'm a contractor and do a lot of kitchen remodels. LED under cabinet lighting has now become very common place on our installs. Usually I purchase the LED's in the rolls and a separate dimmable transformer that is tied into a dimmer wall switch. The last kitchen I did we had an appliance garage to put in and I used this product inside the appliance garage (plugged into an outlet on the back wall of the appliance garage itself) When the doors open the IR sensor senses movement and turns the lights on. I placed the sensor on the back wall in the upper corner so you cant see it when looking into the cabinet. The clients LOVE it. I will be buying this any time I need LED lights inside cabinets to turn on when the doors open.5ExpandibleAs in the product description it is compatible with Alexa, has app control and is dimmable. Used these to light up my desktop, keyboard and a storage area under the desktop. Bought a second set for a shelving unit in my shop, all powered by Alexa. The good part is they can be turned on/off manually. The only drawback, if you want to expand, is the only length of cable you can buy separately is 39" that fits properly. The brightness is sufficient, but since it is dimmable I wish they offered a brighter light.4Love theseThese things are awesome. Mounted in my gun safe. Motion sensor works very I'm the door opens, and this thing illuminates the entire safe really well. CAN'T say enough good things.5Very bright lights. Mount easily under the cabinets. Daisy chain so you can have all 4 strips on one outlet.The countertops in the kitchen are dark when I try to work at them because my body blocks the light from the center of the room. I had installed one of the fluorescent under the cabinet lights. It was OK, but was only about a foot long so it only lit up a small area. I liked it pretty well so I was planning on just buying 3 more of the same one so that it would get the entire counter top. Then I realized that each one would take up an outlet. Since I have a lot of countertop appliances, I really don't have 4 outlets to spare. Luckily, I came across this one, which was a great price and since I would be buying just one instead of 3 more, that made it much better.It has far exceeded my expectations. I blinded my husband when I first turned it on because he was looking right at it. It is very bright. Much brighter than the fluorescent one I had previously. It is essentially 4 strips on one outlet with one switch. We used all of them along the underside of the cabinets along one wall. If my cabinets had been shorter, I could have used fewer of them, or used 2 under one cabinet since the wires between the strips are flexible. I really like that I have multiple options for configuration. I assume that we can even add more to them and still run them off of the one wall plug because of the way each piece plugs into the others. I don't need more on that side, so I haven't looked.Each of the light strips has a strip of double sided tape attached down the entire length and also a hole on each end if you would rather screw them to the cabinets. We just used the tape for now but since I have a toaster and a coffee maker under them, I'm not sure if the sticky tape will hold up to the heat and moisture. If they fall, we'll just screw them in. They are very light weight so if they do fall, I don't worry about them damaging anything. I think the previous light weighed a couple of pounds so we had to screw it to the cabinets. I like it when products give you options like that.My husband did find one "problem" that is not a big deal and may be due to something he did wrong but I'm not sure. He was going to screw them in at first and found that the double sided tape on the back keeps the tab with the hole from sitting against the cabinet so when he tried to screw it in, the tab broke off. He thought maybe he needs to take the tape off so it will be flat. I would just use a small rubber washer/spacer between the tab and the cabinet.Since they are LED, they should last a very long time. I have read that LED lights last thousands of hours, but I don't have enough experience to say if that is true or not. They are cost effective enough that if they even last a couple of years, they will have easily earned their keep.5Lights in you SAFE?!I got these to put in my safe at home. I have a safe with carpet inside, and that carpet holds Velcro very securely. So I cut some Velcro and now I can relocate my lights if I choose. No sticky adhesive, and no nails into my fire board. Now my safe lights up like a refrigerator when I open the door. My safe company offers a 5 light bar option that looks identical for a ridiculous $159.99. Is it weird to say love my new lights? The lights come with little extensions so that I have enough cord to put lights were I need them without extra cord I would to have to secure somewhere. I did not use all the provided extension cord sections. Have a bright day!5Not completely 5000K color temperatureIt is as advertised, somewhat. My pet peeve is that they didn't include any mounting screws. It is very difficult to find the right screws to fit the tight clearances of the screw holes on the sensor and it's mounting tape is not strong enough to hold it upside down. How much would it cost to include screws dudes?But, my major complaint is that not all of the light that's immitted is of 5000K color temperature. There is a small weak stripe of yellowish color reminiscent of incandescent 3000K color temperature. It's noticeable when bringing a white sheet of paper close to the light strip. While not noticeable for most applications, I'm using it as a lighting box for photography. I place photographs printed on a photographic printer underneath for inspection.I did not come across this glitch in the reviews I read. It took me a few days to completely install the light strips and although I notices the yellowing strip of light early, I deamed it acceptable given the price I paid. However, if I had to created another lighting box, I'd search for another brand possibly visiting a brick-and-mortor store and purchase from there.4Works perfectly, and easy to installThis is a great addition to my gun safe, and really enhances my ability to see inside. In retrospect, I should have gotten the six bar set instead of the four bar set just to give me me light for the top shelf. the motion activation feature is super neat, and worth every penny. It lights up almost instantly when the door is opened. As you can see in the second photo, it's small and unobtrusive, yet still works very well. Installation was fairly simple and straightforward if you give a little thought to where you want the lights, and routing the cables. Also, pay attention to the door locking bolts/bars to ensure they won't hit light bar(s) or the motion sensor, and the cabling won't get pinched by the door hinges. To finish it off, I tucked the cables in between the carpeted panels, and it looks very clean and professional. Since my safe has an internal power port, connecting the wall wort was very easy. My only complaint, more of a snivel really, was the cord from the power supply to the motion sensor was too short for my oversized safe. I imagine if you had to run the power cord through the back/side of your safe, you also wouldn't have very much left over to route your cables effectively. I fixed mine by splicing in about 3 feet of lightweight power cord to extend the overall length. It would be nice if Torchstar offered a long power cord extension (4-6 feet) just for this purpose. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase and I would recommend this to anyone looking to add a light kit.5Let there be light!I purchased these to provide some internal lighting for a new Safe Guard GS-17 safe. It provides the perfect amount of lighting. The adhesive backing on the light strips and motion sensor make for an easy installation with plenty of wire and extensions to set up the lighting however you want. The motion sensor, the way I have it set up, is very sensitive. As soon as the door begins to open, the lighting turns right on. The wire that runs the whole setup is very small as well, which makes it very easily concealable, and helps make for a clean install. I would definately purchase again. The picture provided is rough installation, before tucking the wiring and mounting the sensor.5
