Customer Reviews

A Total Waste of MoneyAt the start, I was disappointed in this Lap Desk because it is cheaply made. There were two buttons on the pillow side that weren't securely attached right when I opened it from the box. Also, the "pillow" isn't really a pillow, but more like a bean bag without sufficient stuffing. I've owned the lap desk now for exactly one month and the stitching that secures the pillow to the board is unraveling and the stuffing inside is leaking out. (See photo.) I'm tossing it in the garbage today- a total waste of money. 1GOOD, BUT BETTER FOR A TABLET THAN A LAPTOPThis is a good quality desk, but its engineering is a bit off for use with a laptop ...the laptop doesn't quite rest along the molded stop along the bottom of the desk...instead, the wrist pads act as a stop It is still comfortable to use, but for a laptop it would be better if the wrist pads were aligned with the molded stop. The engineering is more geared toward a tablet even though laptop use is addressed in the description. The size is good, the padding is sufficient and the weight and angle are appropriate. 4Quality desk for the pricePerfect for what I need it for. Comfortable, bean filled, bottom feels sturdy across my lap or sitting on the bed. Size is perfect for my MacBook, iPad, or even a notebook taking notes. My laptop (13 in MacBook Pro) does cover part of the foam pad for phones but that doesn't bother me at all. I love that I can also use this desk with my iPad and keyboard. Only issue there is I have to take my iPad out of its case since otterbox is so thick. I can wedge it in the slot but it's at a bad angle. Any other case on and it fits perfectly. Laptop sits high enough that the arm rests really don't get used but with the thin keyboard they are supportive and at the right angle for my arms. Definitely better than a huge straight bar across the bottom. All in all I would purchase this again and recommend to others! 5Wrist pads are useless, too smallUNCOMFORTABLE! Needs twice as much foam or more! Foam moves around so part of the plastic is totally on your lap. Also plastic around edges bends down, around foam (instead of the other way around), towards your lap and has a thin hard edge so cuts into your legs when the foam moves just a little. Wrist pads are useless, too small, too wide. For instance if using a regular keyboard you would have to be on QUERT and NUMPAD and even then they're too small to help. Horizontal bar to keep device/keyboard from sliding towards you is hard and at least 1/2" tall making your right hand hit it (keyboard) or just in the way for anything else. Plus it hurts too! Why not just have a real wrist pad all the way across that would actually function *and* hold devices in place!? 2Ideal Size. Ideal Weight. Very Comfortable. Great Price.I read many of these reviews and I'm scratching my head. It isn't that complicated folks! You can spend $15 or you can spend $50.Closer to $15 gets you a sturdy, very light and serviceable lap desk. (or two. or three). Plastic top, basic beanbag chair-like bottom. No light.Upwards of $50 or more gets you a high quality large wood top and premium materials like memory foam (many have a light built in too)Here's what you need to consider:First, if you plan to leave this out on your bed after you make the bed, or leave it out in plain view like a piece of furniture, get a nice one. Otherwise, don't waste your money. This one is not fancy but it looks fine (and costs 1/2 to 1/3 as much)Second, If you don't plan to use it much, the nicer ones will be fine. Anything more than occasional use and you'll want a LIGHTER one like this one. This is 1 pound. The nicer ones with wood and memory foam are upwards of 5 lbs. I can lift this desk up with one hand and hold it up in the air while removing the blankets with one hand to quickly and easily get out of bed. I can easily swing it over to my night table with one hand. It is small and light and easy to handle (but big enough for big laptops). The premium ones are heavy and big and harder to manage.Third, this may sound counterintuitive, but if you plan to use this for long periods of time, get an inexpensive lighter one like this. For comfort, lighter is much better. Memory foam is a gimmick for this application. Don't get me wrong, I've owned Tempur-Pedic beds for 10+ years, and I love them. But the benefits of memory foam don't really apply to lap desks. Think about it... you sleep ON your mattress. Unless you plan to turn your lap desk upside down and lay on it, the foam really isn't going to do much. Memory foam contours to your body and distributes your weight evenly. It compensates for our long, lumpy, and uneven bodies. What does it do for a flat wooden platform with a computer on it? Nothing! There's no benefit. This may feel nice - to the touch - on your legs at first, but trust me, after a while this 1 pound desk will be much more comfortable than a nicer 5 pound desk. If you had to watch a movie for 2 hours with a dog on your lap, would you prefer a Boston Terrier or a Great Dane? Would it matter if the Great Dane had softer fur? No, because it is 5X heavier and that matters a lot more!I'm sorry if this is overkill, but I have to admit, I really struggled with this decision. I was so tempted by the fancy wood and memory foam options. Was I being too cheap? Then I got this, and used it, and I couldn't be happier. The size is ideal, the weight is ideal, the price is ideal. It actually looks perfectly fine too. Next to a nice wood one, sure, it won't look as nice. Unless you plan to use it as a show piece, it really isn't worth spending 2X to 3X more on something that will be harder to manage and less comfortable the longer you use it. Ignore the complaints about it having 'bean bag chair' material in it. That's what makes it super light and comfortable! Forget the dog analogy I used... here's a better one: If you had to put a chair ON your lap two hours, would you prefer a beanbag chair, or a La-Z-Boy? Would it matter if there was memory foam in the that La-Z-Boy!?!? 5Little white things covered my whole dining room, including the cats! The item arrived covered in tiny white styrofoam pellets. I tried to discover the source of the problem and it was two-fold. First, the inner base of the product (under the lap part) is cardboard, with a small piece cut out in the center where the pellets are inserted, then sewn to it is a small piece of spandex to hold it all together, but it was sewn imperfectly, with a huge piece that wasn't sewn at all. This might have contained the mess had the glue been better. However, the glue is some silicone slightly sticky stuff that readily comes away from the plastic. Honestly, super glue would probably do a better job. It does have some good things...the wrist rests, the size is perfect for my Lenovo 11e, the mouse fits in the little phone spot, I love the color. But tiny little white things all over my house, including in my bed, sort of trumped the good things. Buy at your own risk. 1Surprisingly great![UPDATE] After using the desk a while, I do have one complaint. The desk seems to flex depending on how it's sitting and how it's been stored. This can lead to a wobbly typing experience as it's hard to get the desk flat enough for the keyboard to make full contact. For the price, I still think this is a good beginner, occasional use, or media stand. If you are planning on using it every day, something a bit sturdier might be in order. (subtracted 1 star) [/UPDATE]I honestly thought it was hilarious that I was buying a cheezy lap desk, but now that I have it, I love it. It lets me use my tablet as a laptop when I'm lounging around the house. Combine with a good bluetooth keyboard (keep it small!) and you have a laptop experience. Also great for viewing media as it provides a wonderfully stable stand for the tablet. I do occasionally try using the non-slip pad (intended to keep your phone on the table) as a trackpad, but that's no fault of this desk! 4Great Smart Desk, Very ComfortableIf you have ever wanted to, or even tried to work for any amount of time with a laptop computer resting on your legs while sitting on a chair or couch, you will love the comfort and simple design of this smart desk. It has plenty of padding to support the desk and your computer, or tablet, and space on the top for your mouse or a ten key, or even your phone. The desk is compact enough to be slid between the couch or chair and an end table if you want. You could also slide it under the couch or chair if you have the room. The surface of the desk is suitable for keeping the computer or tablet on it even if you end up shifting and moving around to the point where you are tilting the desk at some pretty steep angles. Not that you will be using this on a rollercoaster, but you get the idea. The color is great because if you do end up putting it under the couch or chair or if you end up putting it next to the couch or chair, you are able to see it easily compared to if the unit that you had was black or some other dark color that would either blend in to the furniture or be concealed by the shadows of the furniture. I would recommend this to any of my friends as a quality product that has held up to multiple people using it, including my teen age daughter who is pretty rough with all of the things she uses. 5Amazing The Best Student Desk This Is The One To Get Dont Be Fooled But Cheaply Made Ones This is Great Quallity!!This student lap desk is wonderful....I use it for lots of things...for typing on my keyboard for my device and doing reviews, for filling out paperwork, writing, and doing bills etc it is the best and is of great quality and was at such an amazing price I couldnt resist and I am so glad I didnt I am a very satisfied customer as you will be if you get this too, I got the neon green one that has black accents and the desk has a slot at the top to hold a tablet then there is a black foam area that holds your phone the a bumper at the bottom to keep things on the desk and then two black foam padding at the corners of the desk to give you comfort and support as you type or write then on the bottom it has quite a nice comfy pillow like for resting the desk comfortably on your lap....this is an excellent student desk....couldnt ask for better thank you so much!!!! 5Not as useful as it appears...I cannot rate this product very highly.1. NUISANCE: When I put my iPad Air 2 into the tray (as pictured in the product images) the "send" button in iMessages falls far into the crevice, making it difficult to access.2. The "padding" does not offer much support / cushion. I had to put the "desk" onto a pillow for greater comfort.3. If you have pets, beware that the material covering the desk cushion is a magnet for pet fur.I prefer using the underside of my laptop cooling pad to support my iPad while working in bed. Unfortunately, it's no longer available...http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000PH2E3E/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1I give the product 2 stars for the wrist support and the right side grip that holds your iPhone / smartphone. 2
