    The cone protrudes more than an inch into the cup ...Terrible design!!!The cone protrudes more than an inch into the cup or carafe displacing quite a bit of coffee.The real issue is that it has two quite large holes for the coffee to drain through in the bottom. The holes are way to large and let the water run through without really making coffee. My solution was to epoxy the holes closed and drill a much smaller hole between the originals.Skip this product and find another solution... 1Don't order black plastic!I ordered this item for pour over coffee use. As you can tell from my photos, what I received was NOT what was pictured! Very cheap plastic, very unstable when placed on top of the containers I used. (Mugs/Carafe)The bottom picture shows that there is only a small lip for stabilizing it on your container.Additionally, and most importantly, 4 holes!!! The water flows through so fast it doesn't "brew" the coffee at all. Terrible design! The number of holes doesn't show up in the photos for the black plastic cone online.I'd say this is borderline false advertising... Add insult - There is NO option to return this piece of junk.I can't say how the other cones that are shown on the page perform, but I've wasted almost $7. No refunds. Very disappointed Amazon! 1Great price, fun color great tasting coffee!This was a great replacement cone for my Bonavita BV1800 coffeemaker. The drip cone that came with my Bonavita coffeemaker was made out of a clear grey plastic and had ridges. Unfortunately, the Bonavita cone cracked over time and started leaking. This red cone looks fun and works great. It has two holes on either side of the bottom of the cone where the coffee drips out. At first, I thought that this would produce weak coffee, that was was not the case. This is an excellent coffee drip cone and the price is really fair. 5Not for manual pouringThis Black plastic cone has two problems for manual pour over coffee: there are two holes nearly 1/4 inch square which allow the liquid to run through the filter much too fast!!! and the bottom flanges protrude into the mug by more than an inch. My single cup #2 cone has a single 1/8 inch hole which is the proper size for pour over: the grounds get some time to steep. 1Best Pour Over Solution Ever! This a solid, deep-hulled pour over solution, and I just love it. I had previously been using a plastic filter that had a very shallow hull. If you're like me, while you're making your coffee, you're looking at the clock, playing with your cat, answering the phone, and ordering stuff on Amazon. When you're doing this stuff you inevitably and unintentionally clobber the coffee filter and it spills all over your counter and your cat. UNLESS, you're using this deep-hulled, HIC Coffee Filter Cone. Because of its deep hull, it stays snug to your cup despite being clobbered or shaken! So I have clean counters, a clean cat and a hot mug of Joe, without the mess. I ordered two for myself (one in the dishwasher, one ready for action), and ordered two for my girlfriend (huge points!). Take a look at the video I've attached where I give this thing a good beating and it stays right on the cup! Thank you, HIC Harold Import Co.! 5I love this thing!I didn't buy this as "the perfect coffee maker", I bought this as the "cheapest, easiest way to make more than one cup of decent coffee at a time". It has far exceeded my expectations. I make 16 oz. at a time because I don't have the patience or a carafe to make more, but I think 24 oz. would be the maximum.I prefer paper filters to the permanent ones, because I don't like the sludge in the bottom of my cup, so I can't say how quickly they would drain.I fold my filter sharply back where the sides and bottom are attached before placing it in the cone, this creates quite a snug fit forcing the water thru the coffee instead of thru the paper.As with any coffee maker like this, you can't just dump the water on the coffee (it will float). The water must be drizzled slowly over the coffee.It fits cups or carafes from 2 3/4" to 5" in diameter.I've been using it for 2.5 years & still love it. 5Poor design.Reading some of these reviews I realize that there are several different versions of this product out here. That's why I took the photo.For starters, the base protrudes too far into the cup, which causes you to make only 2/3 of a cup.Secondly and more importantly, the drainage is provided by two huge holes, so that the water runs through so quickly that it barely picks up enough coffee flavor. I have to use an additional 50% coffee to make sure the Brew is strong enough. I plugged up one of the holes, but the water still exits too quickly with the one huge hole left.I'm going back to a Melitta #4, if I can find one. 2This pour over is like a family member to me <3I had a pour over just like this since college. It s what got me hooked on coffee and I have a bit of a sentimental attachment. I ve used and abused it through the years, run it through the dishwasher pretty much weekly.Well, recently, my husband managed to drop it on the floor and step on it and it cracked in three places. I was distraught. I may have used scotch tape as a desperate attempt at extending it s life. After a few weeks of very tense mornings (never knowing if it would be the last),there was a gruesome scene of grounds and boiled water all over the kitchen floor. It was time to pull the plug. Old pour over in the garbage. I was late to work. I cried.Thankfully, I looked up the markings on the bottom of the old pour over and searched on Amazon. Amazing! I found an exact replica! The replacement arrived within a day, and it s almost like nothing in my life has changed. 5It DOES fit on a large-mouth Mason jarThis is just what I needed to make cold brew coffee in a canning jar. And once and for all (because a lot of reviews and answers here have the wrong information on this, or don't understand the question): the No. 4 cone DOES fit a standard large-mouth quart or half-gallon Mason jar. The X-shaped bottom part fits easily inside the jar mouth, and the flat ring above it rests on the jar rim. It rocks ever so slightly, but it's easily stable enough to work, even with coffee grounds and liquid in the cone. 5Brews tasty & economical coffeeThis pour-over cone makes a great fuss-free cup of coffee. I was using my own rig with a small plastic funnel and standard coffee filters but this works better with less mess because I can easily lift it up to check how much coffee is in my mug. It's made of durable dishwasher-safe plastic so I am not worried that I'll ever damage/break it.Before I got it, I was a regular Keurig user, but this makes far better-tasting coffee than what comes out of those pods and it's also much cheaper per cup. You can use any coffee you like (works best at a medium grind) and also as much coffee as you want to make a good, strong cup.I use two rounded tablespoons of grounds with about 8-10 oz of off-boiling water and it brews perfect coffee every time. It doesn't seem to me that the water pours through the holes in the cone too quickly. Overall, this cone was an excellent purchase and I don't hesitate to recommend it. 5
