Customer Reviews

Tough workhorses - even in 40 mph winds!Where have this little clothespins been all my life? I live on a very windy farm in the Lowcountry of S.C. I also love hanging duvets, rugs, etc. to air in the sunshine. Until now, I have purchased plastic pins each year that only lasted the year and didn't want to hold my textiles. These pins are fantastic. We have had 40 mph winds all day and nothing was lost off of the line. Don't be worried about their small size...they are real workhorses. And they are stainless steel! I am saving my pennies now to buy some more!5Fantastic product and supportI contacted this vendor prior to purchasing to ask some questions about the product. They responded with detailed answers so it's clear customer service is important to them.I took these pins on a one week catamaran charter in the Bahamas. They performed great. They are very strong (stay closed). So strong I was worried they might leave marks on the items they held. I hung a 3 mil thick scuba wet suit and when removing the wet suit you could see indentations where the pins had been. I did worry about them causing a permanent impression but they did not (the marks went away after a while). None the less I am note sure I'd hang certain items with these without using a bit of padding to protect anything as "spongy" as a wet suit.My questions prior to purchase were mostly concerned with corrosion resistance. Marine environments are super harsh. If you buy a pin that costs more than a dollar it better last. Otherwise buying cheap wood ones and replacing them often is more cost effective. The vendor explained that the pins are actually painted with automobile paint. This provides a great covering that definitely *should* work pretty well in a marine environment. But did it?The pins feel and look awesome. I wanted to test their corrosion resistance so I tested a couple of white pins and a couple of unpainted ones (just raw stainless steel) by dunking them in the ocean each day and letting them air dry on the lifelines on the boat. On the lifelines they are exposed to sun and sea spray. After a week on the boat and in the sea they still looked new. But of course corrosion can take a bit of time to be evident. So I didn't write this review until 3 months after I got home. The pins I dunked every day, plus the pins I used in the normal way to hang my wet suit, bathing suit, towel, etc...all look good as new still. Not sure we're we'll be in a year but I'm super impressed thus far.Yes these cost more than wooden pins and more than many of the plastic pins. But they're super strong, won't get brittle in the sun like plastic, and I imagine with car paint they'll be very slow to corrode. They will of course eventually corrode but I am willing to bet not until I've gotten more than my money's worth out of them.5They worked like a dreamWe line dry in Kansas, dealing with winds that are not only fierce but, as anyone in the Midwest will tell you, change direction at the drop of a hat. For most pins, the changes in direction will eventually work your clothes loose. But with these, as a test, I hung a queen size quilt, with three pins, in sustained 20 mile per hour winds, with gusts of 40, changing from south to west and back multiple times per hour. They worked like a dream. I cannot think of a harder test. I only use a single pin for clothes, even heavy jeans and sweaters, and two pins for bedsheets, and I've never had a single item blow off.I can't recommend them enough.5they do a great job of holding even large items on the line ... I've been using these new pegs for a while now...waiting to write a review until I had some experience with them. I have to say that they are worth every single cent because they do not pick up moisture out of the air and get moldy. Plus, they do a great job of holding even large items on the line in strong wind. This is a great product!Adding information after using for a long time....I leave mine on the clothes line 100% of the time ... even in the harshest winter weather with no problem. They are all still functioning properly and not a spot of discoloration. I also use them to clip grape vines to the support wires...they do a great job. 5The very bestI use these on my sailboat and find them perfect. I tried several other brands of "stainless" clothes pins but they all showed rust and even stained some clothes. Not these! After six months in the Bahamas there's not a spot of rust on any of them. I also find that the amount of tension is pretty much ideal . . although I can appreciate how different people may prefer either more or less spring tension. So far they're perfect in my book.5I would like them a bit longer I bought these to hang up comforters, heavy blankets, and my bamboo fiber mattress pad (which weighs a ton!). I would like them a bit longer, but they seem to hold very well. One problem, they are smooth steel & when my fingers are cold feel slippery when trying to hang a heavy item & open the pin. So, I bought some Plasti Dip, dipped them twice & that worked to help my fingers keep a grip while squeezing the handles. 4Great product. Great customer service. These are amazing! I got them and immediately tried them out on some cloth diapers I happened to have in the wash machine. Not only did they fit the line and the diapers, just one clip held a heavy full size diaper insert. I was sold. Then I found a broken clip in the box. I emailed the email address on the box and they replied - that same day!! They sent a replacement that arrived within a few days. I used them on some bedding, I figured since I had these new clothespins I would try haning a pillow outside to dry. Just two clips held the pillow all day long. Did I mention these are amazingly strong? I woulc completely recommend these to anyone buying clothespins. A couple side notes, they are also very smooth - I was a touch concerned about metal, but there aren't really any sharp edges to worry about... and for as strong as they are, they are still easy to open. They are just really strong nice clothespins. The only bummer about these: I wish I had a longer clothesline and had ordered more clothespins - maybe next summer.5Will hold up HEAVY clothes, blankets etc...We've had these maybe a year now. I use them several times a week to hang clothes. They send all their time out on the line and I don't see ANY rust on them, at all! Some have made their way into the house as clips or chips and cereal bags - which they work quite well for. Yes, I know they are expensive, and I had doubts about ordering them for that reason. They are worth it though, IF you use them regularly. Because those dollar clips just don't hold up long. It gets very frustrating with clips breaking apart in your hands each time you hang. And I have small kids and babies and I don't want them finding springs and things on the floor. Or those pieces getting caught in our mower either. I think I've had maybe one break so far. I plan on ordering more because I do run out some days. I use a combo of these, heavy duty plastics and some vintage wooden my grandma passed down to me.5The BEST peg I've owned in 50 plus years of housewiferyI have been hanging washing on the line for 50 plus years and I have never met clothespins like these. They truly are the best!Yes, they are expensive; but they are the sturdy and reliable. I have been ordering a set over several months, because I can't afford to put out $27 on 20 pegs; but I am happy build my stash up to 100 because of the quality of these pegs.I have only had to mend one so far, which is good because they are a real pain to put back together.I am back to buy the non-coloured peg, because it is less expensive by $5. but I know I will be back for more coloured ones soon.5Live up to expectations and beyond!!Every once in a while you come across an item that not only actually works the way it's supposed to but even surpasses your expectations. These extreme pegs are that item! It doesn't matter what the wind conditions or the load of laundry, these keep everything securely clipped to the clothes line. This spring I even hung up an old tarp that had been used to keep something covered over the winter and was pretty filthy, thinking it would be good to just let it air out and then I would be able to brush all the grime off of it. That night we endured one of the worst wind storms we've had in a long time with rain and howling gales and I could hear that tarp being battered and buffeted all night long, right outside our bedroom window. I thought for sure it would be long gone when daylight arrived but it was still hanging securely by the extreme pegs! They have kept king sized sheets, a load of towels, work clothes, winter wear, etc. securely on the clothes line through some pretty intense wind. I can't recommend them enough for anyone who uses a clothes line.5Sturdy but not as tight-holding as I would have hoped for the price.I was eager to try these "sturdy" pins. And for the most part they are good, but not significantly better than a good quality wooden pin. I need a strong spring action to hold jeans on the line in our midwestern wind. A few of the pins in the pack I got are good for shirts but not tight enough to hold jeans or even sheets. They slide along the clothesline. So while they are not a bad purchase, they are not the end-all in clothespins. A good quality wooden pin is just as good.4Get Serious About Line DryingMy deck gets lots of wind which is perfect for line drying sheets, towels and laundry. The only problem is that when the wind gets gusty, stuff blows away down the hill into a cow pasture. I used to buy wooden clothes pins with the stoutest springs I could find to make sure they would hold but often the pins themselves would twist apart. These steel pins were not cheap, and I got the red ones to boot, (the colors cost a bit more than the plain steel) but I am very pleased with my purchase. I will never need to replace them, unlike the wooden kind, so they are an investment that will pay for themselves over the years. I love the smell of my air dried laundry, the crispness of the fabric and the wrinkle free effect a good stiff breeze imparts. I suspect I'll be getting another set of these ( there are 20 in the set) to replace all my wood ones in time.5
