Buyer beware!These glasses look perfect, but there is something wrong with their manufacturing. I've had two glasses break. But they didn't just break, they shattered with force... almost like an explosion. I've had other (genuine) Picardie glasses for decades, and have never experienced anything remotely similar to this. Buyer beware! 1All glass is not equalI had a set of tumblers I had purchased from Walmart several years ago, and over time running them through the dishwasher, well, destroyed them. Whole sides of a glass would simply snap off. I noticed when using them that things like fiber drinks would really cling to the old tumblers. I bought these clear tumblers from amazon as replacements. All glass is not equal. I have a feeling that looking at the old tumblers through a magnifier would produce something that looks like the craters of the moon, while these new tumblers would look like a smooth highway. Fibrous drinks don't cling to the glass anywhere near as much. Now we'll see how they hold up.UPDATE 2019.08.12: They hold up superbly, like new. I'm definitely a fan. 5Was looking for Pyrex, found these Duralex ones and they're properly sturdy, I love themTired of breaking glasses with minor bumps while cleaning up, I searched for something sturdy and found these on Amazon. Taking a chance, I could not be happier (well, maybe if they were slightly larger, say 16 oz.). They washed up nicely and immediately are notably sturdier than the glasses they replaced. Duralex is apparently a tempored glass product with approximately twice the tensile strength and resistance to shattering as untempored glass. I could find no comparable product. Well recommended, no reservations. [as always, I'll amend this review if circumstances warrant] 5These glasses were great at firstUnbelievable! These glasses were great at first. Today, while unloading my dishwasher one exploded sending glass everywhere. What as mess but thankfully no one got hurt. I've never seen anything like it. I see now from other reviews that this is a known problem. Looks like these glasses are going to the recycle bin. Not worth the risk of this happening again. Wish I had read more reviews before I purchased. 1Lovely glassesThese glasses are beautiful, sturdy and easy to hold. I would have given 5 stars except for the packing, or lack thereof. When I opened the box, pieces of broken glass fell out. One of the six had broken to pieces. The glasses were not individually wrapped, they were just thrown together like a bag of potatoes. The box was fragile, thin paper carton that looked like it came from a 3rd world country during 1950s. It gives a bad name to " French product ". I kept the glasses anyway . I hate to handle broken glasses. I see other customers had the same problem. 4I don't get annoyed easily. But having to trek thru the snow ...ordered the 12 oz. The box is marked 12 oz. But an 8 oz measuring cup of water fills the glass. These are small. Not sure what to do. If the box is marked 12 oz, I'll most likely get another set of small glasses if I request a replacement. A 12 oz glass should hold 12 oz. 1Impressive Glasses!Bought both the 12.62 oz and the 17.62 oz tumblers, and they are far superior to anything I've used in the past. The weight and balance of both sizes are perfect. Can only describe the feel of the glass as soft, which I suppose is odd for a glass product, but seriously, they are. Water does not pool on them in the dishwasher, which bothered me about similar looking glasses that I was using. The larger sized ones are slightly tricky to fit into the dishwasher, but they do fit. The only drawback I found was that the diameter of the 17.62 oz ones are 3.6 inches at the top, so cannot store them in my cabinet three deep. But I knew that before purchasing as I had measured the cabinet, so just rearranged things. Have added these Duralex tumblers to my list of ideas for wedding and house warming gifts, they are that impressive.Will now have to order the smaller size, for coffee and tea, as I love the Design House Stockholm Termo glasses that I currently use for hot drinks, but only have 4 of those. I think these will rival the Termo glasses! 5Poor quality products...Ordered these glasses from Amazon and the first set had air bubbles in many glasses, had scratches, had some small edgy (projections) inside the glass. You can feel it when you move your fingers inside the glass just like when you clean a glass. Returned one set and ordered another, this time the same problem. Out of 12 glasses, could find only one that is good. Returned the second one too. I read the reviews from Wirecutter and ordered, but on their website also people have many complaints of very low quality. The Ikea glasses look better that these with 1/3rd the cost. 1Nice glasses. Not meant for consumer shipping.These are nice glasses to use as basic drinkware around your house. They're pretty sturdy, hold a standard cup of water and fit into most decors. However, because of the way they were packaged one of my glasses shattered and shards filled the box of glasses. While there is ample cushioning material in the outer box, the inner box only really has a single cardboard divider to divide each of the 2 columns of 3 glasses. Because of this, 2 of my glasses that weren't divided must have slammed against each other in delivery and shattered the lip of one of them. Besides being dangerous to pull them out, it was frustrating to have a set of glasses that you're 5/6 totally satisfied with and don't want to return. That said, the seller gave me a very generous partial refund and I respect them for that. 3You can't go wrong with Duralex Picardie glassesYou can't go wrong with Duralex Picardie glasses. They have a timeless style, are comfortable to hold and drink from, and are virtually unbreakable. I've accidentally dropped one off of a porch, and it hit the bricks 12 feet below without even a scratch or chip. They can go in the dishwater, microwave, fridge, and even freezer without any problems. They stack nicely, have enough weight to not tip easily, but don't feel too heavy to hold.Both my wife and I grew up with these glasses in our childhood homes, so when it came time to purchase glassware together, getting Picardie was a no-brainer. We own the 8.75oz, 12oz, and 16oz glasses. We'll use the 8 3/4 for our morning milk or OJ, and we use the 16oz for smoothies, but these 12oz versions get used for everything else. They're the perfect size for a glass of water or holding an 8oz can of soda (you only want to fill them to about 2/3 of their rated capacity to prevent spilling), and we get by far the most use out of them.There's a reason these glasses have been around, essentially unchanged, for almost 90 years. I would highly recommend them to anyone. 5
