    Great! This is totally awesome. So worth it to have a separate grinder for spices after using the coffee one and having to rinse it out all the time, not to mention something that is more specifically for spices and has a groovy lid to boot. Looking forward to grinding all kinds of spices like cinnamon sticks that I've never tried with a grinder, but so far it pulverizes peppercorn to a fine dust in seconds. Big thumbs up! 5Fast and FantasticA good balance of weight and size, this little grinder is great! Flax seed was done in under 10 seconds with 1/4 cup. This s a small grinder, and I wouldn't put in much more than 1/3 of a cup or so. The item has a beautiful stainless and black plastic shell and a pretty heavy duty blade. The opening on the bottom of the unit will permit small particles through and a good wipe down on the inside of mounted part will be needed after each use, but that's a small price to pay for how well this grinds. I strongly recommend this device.5HORRIBLE !!!POOR PERFORMANCE, OVERHEATS EASILY, MISSES A LOT OF NUTS AND NOW IN TOP OF ALL THAT, THE CUPITS STUCK, THEREFORE UNABLE TO REMOVE AND CLEAN. However I just contacted cuisinart as my grinder is now jammed! I got it for my husband as he loves to make bbq rubs. It does an amazing job of grinding down everything and it s so easy to clean as the cup comes off and is machine washable. My rating isn t 5-stars because I need a replacement already as the cup is jammed on its base. It seems it s connected pieces are locked. Usually I can just spin it off and wash it but now it spins but doesn t release. I think it s just a defect as many love this grinder. I am hoping I can get a new one soon as it s really nice... totally heartbroken3Poor DesignI've been a customer on Amazon for over 16 years, and in all that time, I have only returned one item. Make that two now. As with other previous reviewers, it works, but only the aluminum cup is detachable while the blade -- which is attached permanently to the cup -- stays locked, making it impossible to take the cup off to wash it. Only used it twice. I could still use it since it does work, but I can't wash it in dishwasher since the blade doesn't want to unlock. Very poor design... going to buy a spice and nut grinder now from a different company.1Stopped working after 4 months; "warranty" is a jokeI loved this little grinder - it was so handy for nuts and cinnamon; but it abruptly stopped working two days ago and doesn't show any signs of life. The "warranty" - which I wish I had known before I purchased it - says to, first, ship the product on my own expense to NJ, which will be about $15; then add a check for $10 more for Cuisinart for "shipping and handling". This all is for them just to start looking at the broken grinder. So, like, spend $25 more on something that's worth $35 new and that I am not even sure can, or will be, repaired. This is a shame, not a warranty.1Unbeatable for volumes of pepperI've owned a number of pepper and spice grinders and if you have recipes with more than a tablespoon of pepper, you need this. I make my own BBQ rubs and this is the only way to get enough fresh "ground" pepper. It might be finer than you'd get from an adjustable grinder, but it's much better than using pre-ground pepper.It comes with a lid for the inner chamber, but the blade assembly is too lose for it to be an air tight seal. Mine might be an assembly issue, but when it's on the base the blade is firmly in place and works very well.5ExcellentI bought for a different purpose. An individual I care for takes a whole bunch of pills. These pills have to be ground up and dissolved in water. I had a cheap coffee grinder that worked well but eventually froze up. I used another that if you ground for about 20 seconds did the trick..but still left chunks. I was looking on here under pill grinders and someone recommended this unit. I love it. It grinds this small handful of pills to powder in roughly 3 seconds. The metal grinding cup that contains the blade and powdered pills a quick counter clockwise turn comes up for easy dumping of the contents and unlike other coffee grinders can then be rinsed clean. I have no doubt it would grind coffee beans fast and superbly as well. That said if this unit froze up in 2 months I'd order another one..but so far so good.5Great...if you don't mind making a mess and losing a ton of what you put in the cup. While this grinder is plenty powerful with a large cup and solid, slid-resistant footing, the design has a major flaw. The place where the blade passes through the bottom of the cup isn't sealed. In fact, there's rather a lot of room there. Which means the finer you're grinding, the more of it you'll find below the cup on top of the grinder housing. At first I though perhaps I received a defective product so I returned it and purchased another one. The same results followed.Quite unfortunate as up to now I've had great experiences with Cuisinart products. 2Poorly EngineeredI really wanted to like this product as I love my Cuisinart Food Processor but spice grinder has few pros and many cons as I've listed below. I am still searching for a good spice grinder.Pros--Quiet-Powerful Motor-Looks niceCons--Blades sit too high-Blade assembly is not sealed so spices leak out the bottom-No gasket on the plastic top so spices leak out the top-Grind is not even or fine enough2Don't buy!! Lots of malfunctionsDo not buy!1. The blade is not locked air tight onto the base, so my spice leaks everywhere on the space between the cup and the base.2. Motor dies extremely easily. I've tried to revive it by putting it in the fridge/freezer to cool down the motor, and it works again. But the motor is just too weak.3. There's a malfunction one day, the cup and the base completely locked together and inseparable. The blade won't turn. Bye byeThe grinder really grinds things into powder, but there are better grinder out there. This is not worth the price.1Grinds Unevenly. And how do the grinds end up underneath the cup?What I like most about this grinder is that it is not as loud as other grinders i've used.Unfortunately, that's where my "likes" stop.Coffee (or whatever) is ground unevenly - after running for 20 seconds which is ample for less than 1/2 cup of beans. I have included a picture that shows that there is fine grinds at the bottom with coarser grinds towards the top.Additionally, underneath the base of the cup there are residual grinds. Forget ever doing anything that has any moisture.Overall, it is disappointing that Cuisinart didn't get it right. If I could return it i would.Will probably go back to the basic KRUPS grinder.2Best Grinder I have used! 6 Stars! I must have my coffee as fresh as possible, so I use this to grind my coffee beans. Works great for me as I am the only coffee drinker in my house and I use a single cup coffee maker. A great feature is the plastic lid, so you can grind some and leave the rest in the metal container, put the plastic lid on (I store my coffee scoop inside the metal container as well) - then put the large plaster cover over it. Airtight! Occasionally, coffee grounds get on the edge and I have to putsh the plastic grinder lid down a couple of times, but it does not happen often. I bought a second one for the office. 5
